This refined and versatile 4-piece comes from a small town in the middle of France. They started in 1990 from a group of friends sharing a comon love of pure & eccentric pop. Psychedelic pop provides the touchstone of their sound, but the band blends their own ideas with those of XTC, Robyn Hitchock, Mitch Easter and other maestros of multi-dimensional sounds. Out of place here in France full of garage and grunge bands & more interested in doing what they want – it’s the music that counts here not the image – they have meet moderat succes so far. After 2 self-published cassettes and some tracks on various local compilations, The Strawberry Minds finally released theirs 1st album in 1995. “Anorak Day” still rates among the finest and more personal we hear from this country these last years.
Now they waxed their 1st single. This brand new release demonstrates agian the band’s flair for delivering finely crafted pop tunes with tempos, emotive vocals, crystal clear sounds & nifty little hooks taht just won’t let go.
The band plays melodic folk rock with a slighty psychedelic feel to it. Their sound is somewhat reminiscent of early Rain Parade. “Beau Frere” in particular is a strong track.

This French band released a mighty fine EP awhile back and have returned with 3 new ones showing maturity in the songwriting department. Very pleasant classic Go-Betweens styled pop that has a bright, acoustic based pop style that many try and really blow at.... The Minds show how this is done. Crafty melodicism.
